About
Benjamin Asare is a Ghanaian professional goalkeeper who rose from humble beginnings to become Ghana's first-choice goalkeeper. His journey began at Sporting Mirren FC (now Accra City Stars FC) before moving to Accra Great Olympics in 2020. After suffering relegation with Great Olympics at the end of the 2023/24 season despite being their standout performer, he joined Accra Hearts of Oak in July 2024. Known for his composure and shot-stopping ability, Asare earned his first Black Stars call-up in March 2025 and made his international debut in a 5-0 victory over Chad, keeping a clean sheet. He was named Goalkeeper of the Year at the 2025 Ghana Football Awards and has established himself as one of the best goalkeepers in the Ghana Premier League with an impressive record of 50 clean sheets in 100 top-flight appearances. His humility was highlighted when a viral video showed him boarding a trotro (local minibus) after his national team debut, leading to businessman Seidu Agongo gifting him a Hyundai Elantra.
