The 2025/26 season marks a transformative chapter in GPL history. Through the newly established Ghana Premiership Football Company Limited and a landmark partnership with Adesa Productions Limited, the league is being reimagined as a modern, commercially viable, and globally competitive sports product.

The GPL champion qualifies for the CAF Champions League, while top finishers earn places in the CAF Confederation Cup. Ghanaian clubs have historically competed with distinction across Africa, with Hearts of Oak winning the CAF Champions League in 2000 and the CAF Confederation Cup in 2004.
