Ghana’s Derrick Kwatei named Timekeeper for CAF Futsal Qualifier

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has released the official designations for the upcoming Futsal Africa Cup of Nations qualifier between Cape Verde and Senegal, scheduled for January 23, 2026. Among the key match officials appointed is Ghana’s Derrick Kwatei, who will serve as the Timekeeper for the encounter.
The role of Timekeeper in futsal is crucial, responsible for accurately monitoring match time, time-outs, and accumulated fouls, a task requiring precision and sharp focus. Kwatei’s appointment shows Ghana’s growing reputation in African futsal officiating and reflects confidence in his capabilities at the continental level.
The match will be overseen by an all-Nigerian refereeing team led by center referee Dung Davou Musa, with support from Ndubuisi Odigomma Ukah and Alhassan Bello Zurui. The Commissioner for the fixture is El Mansouri Taha of Morocco.
This designation not only marks an important step in Kwatei’s officiating career but also underscores the collaborative effort across African nations to ensure the smooth and professional execution of CAF-sanctioned competitions.
